Welcome to my blog. 🙂 If you’ve made it this far and clicked the “About” link you most likely wonder who I am and what motivates me.

So… All of this started with my boyfriend Austin buying a book about soap making in San Jose at the end of 2012. He said: “Why don’t we try it – sounds like fun.” Little did I know that we got seriously hooked on the stuff. Even less did I know that soap making was much more complicated than the book made it seem. However, I am LOVING it.

I have always loved any kind of cosmetics. In fact, during my studies of English and American literature in Germany I worked for a high-end retailer of cosmetic products. Chanel, Shiseido, Guerlain, Dior, Clarins – you name them, I tried, loved and sold them all.

What I have come to realize since I started creating my own stuff is that I massively fell for the marketing strategy of these brands. It was more important to me how a product looked, smelled and felt rather than what it actually did for my skin. Don’t get me wrong. I still can’t pass the new Chanel range without dipping my fingers into at least 2 lip glosses, 5 eye shadows and 2 face creams. But I am using much more of my own things now because I know that what I put in is really good for my skin. Also, my quantities of amazing ingredients are much bigger than what you’d find in any of the retailed products and, obviously, I am using next to no chemicals.
